The Angel Tree Program's Christmas store keeps on giving, and so does it's volunteers, as the tables loaded with toys in the new fire hall that were trying to support a rather heavy burden are getting emptier and emptier.

"It is absolutely fabulous here. We see some great people coming through that are happy to be receiving a gift for their children, so that they're children have something to open on Christmas morning," shared a volunteer at the store, who wished to remain anonymous.

"There's lots of hugs, there's lots of tears, and there's lots of people walking out having a merry Christmas now. They know they can rest well on Christmas Eve, because their kids have presents to open in the morning."

That's a sentiment she knows all too well, as she is also a recipient of the Program's services, and she is giving back to those who have generously given to her.

"It's been great. My children aren't aware that the gifts come from anybody else. It helps us out a lot, as there's been some hard times with recession, and it helps me sleep better at night knowing that I'm going to get up in the morning and my kids are going to be happy with what they're opening."

"Don't feel bad for asking for help if you need it. It's not yourself that's getting it, it's the children that are really receiving the extra gifts. Don't be afraid to reach out if you need it. It's a great thing to have, and not every community has this," she expressed, adding that she is proud to be involved in helping make other's lives better.

Putting her 'volunteer' cap back on, she took note of the abundance of toques, mitts and pajamas that were donated this year. A lot of toys have changed hands, and yet there is still a lot to choose from.

In addition, the donations still keep rolling in, as generous folks have popped by the new fire hall to add their contribution.
