Estevan stepped up in a big way on Thursday to support the Angel Tree Program through the Gift Of Toys, a 12 hour event hosted by CJ1150, Sun 102, Rock 106 and DiscoverEstevan along with many others to collect toys.

However, it wasn't just the city that chipped in, but the surrounding communities as well. The Bienfait Weldon school raised over $1,200, spearheaded by Chanda Henry.

"I run the leadership team every year, and we always like to fundraise for the Angel Tree. This year we decided to do float sales, and our SCC said they would match us up to $200, so we ended up with $300 some of sales and then they gave us another $200," she explained.

"Then with the 5/6/7/8 class, we also did a bake sale and raised another $300, and the SCC then gave each class in our school $200 to donate to a charity of our choice. The kids thought to 'go big or go home', so we decided to take that other $400 and put it all towards the Angel Tree."

The kids then crowded into Canadian Tire, where the items were all being collected, and proceeded to shop for all the toys that they could with the budget that was raised.
