After waiting an extra week to learn her fate, Debra Hamann from Beinfait was sentenced at Estevan Provincial Courthouse. Judge Wiegers was to deliver the sentence last week but reserved sentence to take more time to fully weigh the factors involved in this case. 

This afternoon, he was prepared to enter his judgement. On the count of driving while impaired by alcohol causing death, Ms Hamman was sentenced to three years in prison. One the court of driving while impaired by alcohol causing bodily harm, she was sentenced to 18 months. These sentences are to be served concurrently so she will see three years all together behind bars. 

Following her imprisonment, Ms Hamman will not be allowed to drive for another five years.

She will also have to supply a DNA sample for the National DNA Registry as well as pay a $400 victim surcharge.
