The Business Summit is happening today, at the Southeast College. Jackie Wall, Executive Director for the Estevan Chamber of Commerce shares, "The Business Summit is really an opportunity for the business community to get together and celebrate small businesses because it is Small Business Week. It’s basically from feedback that we received from our members, looking for different information on business and different sessions they can take part in and of course use the opportunity to network and provide mentorship to businesses. It’s going to be a full day of sessions. We’re going to kick it off with registration at 8:15 am till about 8:45 am, then we are going to get right into all the sessions."

Wall shares, "We have around 85-90 people registered for the Business Summit. We have seven sessions today, two of which are going to be panel discussions featuring local businesses. One of those discussions will be about building your brand as well as online presence. We have five people from our community who are going to be speaking on how they’ve done it with their business. We will have our ending session at 3:15 pm, which is going to talk about the state of businesses in Estevan. We'll have four people from our community who are going to discuss the challenges within their businesses that they’ve had to adapt over the last few years, exactly how they’re going to proceed over the next couple of years and where they see their business and Estevan heading in general. We also have a session where Lori Carr, the Honourable Minister of Highway and infrastructures will be joining us. She will be providing us with the political review. There will be sessions on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship within the province for people who are looking at starting or opening up a business company."

"We’re really trying to cover a lot of different topics and of course, one topic we are all going to focus on is workplace impairment and education for employers on the new legalization of cannabis."

"The main thing we focus on at the chamber is providing what our members need as far as support and that comes from our members when they communicate to us or give us a call. When we hear questions within the community we take all of that into account and we try to gear our events to answer those questions and provide the opportunity that our members are looking for. I really want to thank Tundra Energy Marketing Unlimited. We’ve been talking about doing this Business Summit for a while, they came forward and are partnering with us to present this event, so without our partners or sponsors these events couldn’t happen."

Wall feels the Business Summit is going to be fantastic and will hopfully be the first of many.
