It's been another successful month at the Carbon Capture and Storage Facility, located at the Boundary Dam Power Station.

"We've seen some really good performance out of the CCS, and actually the Boundary Dam Unit 3 power plant portion of the project as well," stated Howard Matthews, the Vice President of Power Production at SaskPower.

"It actually goes back to last year, when we made some changes to the process and did quite a bit of work there last summer, we're really seeing the payoff. Longer run times between maintenance outages, much better reliability."

Other than a very short period of time in April when it had to come off to repair a cooler's O ring, the facility has seen run times as much as 100 percent.

"It was available about 95 percent of the time in April, and it had a pretty good production run of a little over 70 thousand tonnes captured."

Currently, the unit is on a scheduled shut down for routine maintenance. Once it's back up within a few days, they expect it to last and produce well until the next scheduled outage in the fall.
