A Lucky break for one Carlyle couple and just in time for Christmas.

Lynn Brady won $1 million dollars on one of the 56 MAXMILLIONS of LOTTO MAX drawn on October 26. Brady, who shared the winning ticket with her husband Dale, didn't discover the windfall until October 31.

“I gave the ticket to the store clerk, and her eyes got really big,” Brady shared in a Saskatchewan Lotteries press release. “But when I saw the number come up on the screen, I felt completely calm. I thought to myself, ‘There’s no way I actually won that much. No way!’”

“Even when the guy standing behind said, ‘You won a million dollars!’ I still didn’t believe it,” she continued. “I never really believed it could happen to us.”

Dale also had a hard time believing their good fortune.

“Lynn called to tell me we won,” he said. “I said, ‘yeah, right. Today is Halloween, not April Fool’s Day.’”

The couple said they have started thinking about what to do with their winnings.

“Christmas is coming up, so we’re going to make sure it’s a nice one,” said Lynn. “More than anything, this win will make our retirement easier, and that’s a great feeling.”

Lynn purchased the couple’s winning ticket at Carlyle Convenience and Gas, located in Carlyle.
