Summer is always a busy time of year with people travelling to and from the lake, to visit relatives or simply out for an afternoon drive. Throw in work zones and you've got a recipe for increased accidents.

"Construction zones are always a worry," shared Staff Sgt Darren Simons with the Carlyle RCMP.

"We had a collision in one here at the end of June where someone wasn't paying attention, drove into the zone and collided with a vehicle that was trying to get out of the way."

"When you're driving, you've got to take your time. We know everyone wants to get to the lake or the city. Take your time, be alert, don't be looking down at your phone. Look and see what's around you so you don't get caught in a collision."

"When you're travelling, this time of year there are more people in a rush and more focused on getting where they want to go to instead of focused on the drive."

"Just be patient, take your time and you'll get to where you want to go."
