The weather system that left a sheet of ice across the southeast in it's wake was tracking from west to east. After blanketing Estevan, it advanced to Carlyle and beyond to leave it's chilling mark.

"It's icy, we do not recommend travel," stated Staff Sergeant Darren Simons with Carlyle's RCMP detachment, "We are surprised so many people choose to travel. With the internet, with your apps on your phone telling the weather, and the news saying 'don't travel', we're kind of surprised at how many people are still trying to travel on these roads."

He added that even the court system was having to adapt to the poor conditions. However, justice will still be served.

"Our court is going to go today, it's going to be done over video because the judges aren't travelling, the Crown isn't travelling, and we're trying to tell as many people as we can to stay off the roads if possible."

Simons' detachment hasn't had to attend a lot of motor vehicle collisions, and he doesn't want to see that change.

"When the weather is bad, it's better to be late for work, or not show up to work if it's dangerous. Most employers are pretty realistic. But if you are travelling, take your time, be careful and be very defensive, recognizing that other drivers might have a hard time staying on the road."
