The major project for the Town of Carlyle remains their new splash park, which they're hoping to have open this summer. There are still some questions to be answered about it, but one of the questions now has an answer following their most recent council meeting.

The town's new splash park will be located at Centennial Park. The park is centrally located and will be an ideal spot, in the view of the town council, for people to come from around Carlyle and hopefully areas beyond the town to visit.

"We looked at all the ups and the downs and the corners, and the Council decided on Centennial Park," said Mayor Jennifer Sedor. "I'm really looking forward to that location. It's central for everyone, so I think it's going to be something that adds to everyone's enjoyment this summer."

Construction on the park is now scheduled to begin in May, as the needed parts have been ordered. If everything goes according to plan from there, the splash park should be open sometime this summer, just as council had been hoping for back when they started working on the project.

"Everything is on order and ready to be sent," Sedor said. "We'll have our utilities installed and the park will go in and it will be ready to go by this summer. We're really excited... It was a long conversation, it was a great conversation to have, and I'm really excited to see something really accessible for all families in this community."

Some of the funding for this project has come from the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program (MEEP), while the town still hopes to take top prize, which is $10,000 in funding, in the Go Out And Play Challenge. As of Friday, which was the halfway point of the challenge, they'd logged 51,000 minutes as a town, but Sedor felt they could do even better.

"I'm really gearing for us to get 150,000 minutes by the end of this competition," she said. " We can more than double this... The weather has really helped but I think everyone is just really excited to get out and do something."
