Jackie Wall, Executive Director of the Estevan Chamber of Commerce, "We've actually been very busy at the chamber, of course, we had the legalization of marijuana. We worked with our other stakeholders in the province to bring some education for our members in that regard. That was early in the spring. We had fantastic networking on the green golf tournament. It continues to grow and its a great way to get out in the summer and to do some networking with all the different businesses."

Wall recaps one of the biggest events of the 2018 year, "We had our biggest event of the year, which was a huge success and that was the Business Summit. It was a fantastic day, we had top-notch speakers. We had a great turn out from the community, we also had a lot of great feedback and the dialogue that happened and the ideas that came forward. The different strategic alliances that resulted from that were fantastic. That kind of rolled into our chamber coffee talk, which is a new event that we started in November. The premise of it is, we basically take a topic, spend about 10 minutes getting a presentation on that topic and really utilizing the rest of the hour to talk about how we can either stimulate that or provide inspiration, or what we as a business community can do. And what we can do as businesses to make our community even better."

"The Chamber is really working to discover what our members are looking for and to provide that to them," Wall continues.

The Chamber of Commerce works closely with local businesses in the area, "We've also been working with the issue with SaskPower, on Unit 4 and 5 and we've continued to do that over the past year. We've actually been working on that for almost 2 years, and we've been trying to get answers. A lot of that has been due to Federal unwillingness to sign the equivalency agreement, which has left SaskPower in an unfortunate position as to what they can do in the timeline for unit 4 and 5. Part of that which came out of that, is we have Mike Marsh coming here. He is the President and CEO of SaskPower, and he is going to give an update on what the future of power generation looks like for our province and how it's going to impact Estevan."

Wall mentions how they partner with other committees to help grow their span of influence, "So the chamber has worked really hard to provide quality events and information to our members. And really helped to stimulate dialogue within our community as to where we need to go as a business community and as a city as a while. Part of that was our work with our Economic Development Committee. We've been working hard with them to bring in new industries. There's talk of getting a new business incubator going, so there is a lot of interesting things that are going to come forth in 2019. And we're going to continue to do that and to do what we feel is the direction from our members and its really going to help stimulate our business community."

"It's very exciting all the time, there is always something new happening. There's always something that the chamber is working on in order to provide value to our members and to give them the tools that they are looking for to make their business even better. As a result our community prospers as a whole."
