The Estevan Police Service dealt with a serious incident Saturday evening, and charges have already been laid.

According to a release Sunday afternoon, members were dispatched to a home invasion around 7:30 PM on Saturday on the north end of the city. The suspect had forced their entry into the residence and then assaulted an occupant inside.

Officers were quickly able to identify the suspect, who had fled the scene and tracked him down in a local downtown establishment. They took him into custody, though he tried to resist them.

Apparently, the victim and the accused knew each other. The former had his injuries treated at hospital and then released.

A 24-year-old Estevan male is facing charges of Break and Enter to a Dwelling, Aggravated Assault, Uttering Death Threats, Resisting Arrest, and Assaulting a Police Officer. The EPS expects that further charges will result from the investigation.

The man will appear in court on Monday morning.
