City Council was showing their support for the hometown Bruins at Monday night's City Council meeting as they donned the back and gold sweaters in honour of Game 7. Counsellor Hoffart, the counsellor on the Bruins board came up with the idea. Mayor Roy Ludwig shared that he had a great time at the Bruins game on Sunday night with some special guests.

"Our MLA, Lori Carr, was able to bring our Premier to the game and he absolutely enjoyed Affinity Place. I had the opportunity to talk to him. We were very happy that he took time out of his busy schedule to come down to Estevan to the game. We were very happy with that."

There was also a number of items on the official agenda at last night's council meeting. The first was a presentation from Richard Neufeld, the City's and Development Manager. Mr Neufeld has started the process of the Official Community Plan and is moving into the public feedback stage. "Our Estevan" will be the name of the Plan and it will focus on what are we about and try and determine where we see ourselves in ten years, and how we get there.

Starting in a few weeks, the public will be invited to complete a number of short surveys on what they see Estevan is and what they hope it will become. The public consultation process will feature a series of seven short online surveys consisting of around 8-10 questions each. Results will be posted shortly after the previous survey closes. The surveys will run from summer to late fall.

"I like the idea of more community involvement, more back and forth, more dialogue so we can get the feedback from our community when we make up the official plan."

Another matter on the agenda was the new pet licencing bylaw. Instead of a yearly charge, the fee will now be applied for the life of the pet.

"We thought the credit that they've already given will be forwarded to their lifetime fee of $35 because I think it had been $10 a year. So if they paid another $25, then they'd have their lifetime fee paid for. We would credit them for that."

POUND FEES:

First offence in a calendar year $ 50.00
Second offence & every offence thereafter in a calendar year $100.00

All dogs or cats spayed or neutered & not registered

It was also decided that the previously unnamed road from Souris Avenue to Collis Road be Changed to honour Russel Brown, an Estevan businessman, city councillor and MLA. The road will be unveiled as Brown Road in a ceremony at a later date.
