Estevan City Crews are out today in full force tackling the icy conditions in and around the city.

Estevan crews are out salting and sanding the streets.

"The last few days we've been piling a lot of sand and salt on the streets," shared City Roads and Drainage Manager, Norm Mack. "But in these frigid conditions, salt doesn't activate, so hoping today we see a little warmer temperatures. Around -5 so that salt will kick in and you'll see some relief on the icy roads hopefully this afternoon."

"Our sanding trucks have been out very early mornings and later at night and they've been doing a city-wide sweep of icy conditions. First, we start on priority ones, twos and school zones."

"We hope the temperature and a little bit of sunlight will help us out today."

Mack adds that drivers should still use caution while driving."

"The ice is out there and sometimes it's hard to see in the daytime. It's extremely icy and we're dealing with it the best we can with salt and sand."
