Estevan city crews took tot he streets over the weekend and today to clear the recent snowfall off the streets.

"We received a few centimeters of snow over the weekend," explained Estevan's Roads and Drainage Manager, Norm Mack. "It wasn't a whole bunch but right now we just tidying up some priority one streets and taking them away from parking curbs and parking lanes and hauling some of that away."

"We won't be putting too much equipment on the road in priority two and three rather we will be using salt and sand."

Mack added that the recent snow accompanied by the strong winds have created some icy conditions on many of the streets.

"The sanding units were out all weekend long as well as some of our equipment. With these frigid conditions and the wind polishing the surface, the icy conditions will prevail over the next few days."

Drivers in the city should adjust their speeds to the conditions.

"Make sure you slow down a bit because there ice is there. We'll attempt to downgrade that ice with salt and sand."
