As a part of Operation Clean Sweep, the City of Estevan is holding a Free Landfill Weekend during the May Long Weekend.

"The only thing that isn't allowed for the free weekend is Freon appliances," explains Dean Erickson, Landfill Operator, "And they also shouldn't be bringing TVs, computers, tires, paint cans, batteries, any hazardous waste or anything that is petroleum contaminated."

However, general household garbage is welcomed.

"And trees and bushes and stuff like that, no problem with that."

There is one more thing for those who hope to take advantage of this free service need to know.

"You have to be a resident of Estevan within the city limits. Rural waste will not be accepted for free and same with commercial."

He adds that showing ID with a street address on it will be enough to get you through the gate.

Free Landfill Hours:

Friday 8am - 8pm

Saturday 9am - 6pm

Sunday 9am - 6pm

Monday 8am - 8pm
