The City of Estevan hosted their official Grand Opening of the Visitor's Centre at its new location inside Affinity Place.

"We wanted to make sure that the people that use the city and use the facilities of the city are using our resources to the best of that ability," explained Rebecca Westling Destination Marketing and Communications Consultant. "We don't want to be just a bathroom stop at the edge of the highway and to tell people what is happening in Alaska."

"We want to make sure that those people are the people who are here and going to experience here and want to know what's happening here."

"Construction started mid-April. We opened our doors on June 4. One of the challenges was that we would've opened on time but the door was custom made and it didn't arrive on time."

She added that they hope to attract visitors and residents who are looking for something new to do in Estevan.

"For example, if you didn't know anything about Woodlawn Regional Park, you could experience something down there, step out of your comfort zone for residents of the area. And also for people to share that information. Estevan is a really great place to visit."
