The City of Estevan is ready for however much snow the area is going to receive today. It may have been later in the year than last year, but the crews have their snow removal plan in place and are ready to go.

"First off, we will really have to see what the accumulation of snow is," explained Norm Mack, City Roads and Drainage Manager. "They are forecasting 10-15 (centimeters) but that can change from hour to hour."

"We'll have to let the snow accumulate before we do anything and then if we do get that 10-15 centimeters, you'll probably see us out on priority one and two (streets) cleaning the areas. And perhaps after we finish them, we would have to revisit other areas of the city."

Priority one streets refer to the main arteries in Estevan including 4th Street, Kensington Avenue, 13th Avenue and King Street.

"Priority two are the collector street such as around school zones that lead out to priority one. Henry Street would be priority two, Wellock would be a priority two. Main collectors that go into subdivisions with a little more traffic than priority three."

Mack added that with the mild temperatures and the lack of snow, they have had the chance to make sure the necessary maintenance has been completed on their equipment.

"We have had ample time to get our equipment ready. We've been doing a lot of jobs that we couldn't otherwise."

"We're always prepared for snow and the guys and gals are all ready to go."
