The time has come to say goodbye to the historic Civic Auditorium.

According to a release from the City of Estevan:

"The demolition of the Civic Auditorium is scheduled to commence on Monday, May 14th, 2018 with a scheduled completion date of June 15th, 2018."

"During the demolition process, heavy equipment and truck traffic will increase along 8th Street, 13th Avenue and 6th Street; continuing along the truck route as they transport debris from the demolition site to the City of Estevan landfill."

"The Civic Auditorium was officially opened on September 26th, 1957."

"It was home to the Estevan Bruins for 54 years before they moved their home over to Affinity Place in 2011. It was also home to the Estevan Figure Skating Club has was home to many large events in the community. History was made at the Civic; Jim Harrison holds the WHL record for fastest natural hat trick, having scored 3 goals in 24 seconds for the Estevan Bruins during a 6-5 win over the Regina Pats in December 1966."

As well, on Tuesday, May 15th, at 1:00 pm, the time capsule that was buried during the construction of the Civic will be opened at the Estevan Leisure Centre. The public can view items from the time capsule after the official opening.
