Crystal Bowdrie Executive Director of Saskatchewan for the CNIB shared how United Way assists their organization, "CNIB celebrated our 100th Anniversary in 2018, so that is 100 years of providing vision loss rehabilitation services and quality of life programming for individuals who are blind or partially sighted. And its the services that United Way of Estevan support. So programs like peer support, recreation programs, kids camps, and they have also supported us for vision loss rehabilitation services in the past as well."

"CNIB has about 70 clients in the Estevan area, so about 150 in the Weyburn and Estevan area. So it would affect our ability to provide quality of life programming and vision loss rehabilitation services for those who are blind or partially sighted in that area. So we truly rely on the United Way of Estevan support in order to deliver those services."

As United Way is coming up Bowdrie added, "I'm always excited about the telethon, its a great opportunity to be out in the community and to talk about the services that we offer. And also to generate awareness in the community of the struggles that people in the community that are blind or partially sighted go through."

"We have been in business for 100 years and in Saskatchewan for 96 years, and we are certainly excited with our partnership with United Way Estevan."

For future events in our area Bowdrie added, "CNIB is back in the Estevan community looking do a peer support group, so if anyone in the community is interested in community support and coming out to a blind and partially sighted peer support group. So if anyone in the community is interested in peer support, that is really to connect others who are experiencing vision loss. They can reach out to Ashley Nemis our program lead for that, her number is 306-565-5413 and were also looking for a volunteer to help us lead that group. So if anyone in Estevan is interested we'd love to have you out. And help us lead that group as well, and we also plan on being in Estevan to do some vision loss rehabilitation services next spring where we plan to do a couple of days in Estevan."
