UPDATE: SaskPower has further stated that the power outage is expected to take place at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, and it will last approximately 45 minutes, perhaps less.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"There's considerable damage, and construction will be ongoing for the next day or two."

That's the verdict from the City of Estevan's Roads and Drainage Manager, Norm Mack, after assessing the damage cause by an early morning altercation with a power pole.

Apparantly, a westbound semi on King made a right hand turn onto Souris Avenue north, but took the corner too short, knocking down a post and damaging city traffic lights.

"We will have the four way stops in place for the majority of the day and perhaps tomorrow," Mack added, "SaskPower will be replacing that power pole, it will be a lengthy procedure. That will be happening today, and we'll have to obtain parts for our traffic signals. There will be ongoing construction for the days ahead. We hope to rectify and get the traffic flowing once again shortly, probably in the next couple days or so."

Meanwhile, SaskPower has notified DiscoverEstevan in an email that an emergency outage will be conducted later on on Wednesday while crews conduct repairs. They expect it to last about an hour and affect approximately 1200 customers in northeast and northwest Estevan.
