The three men charged after a search warrant was executed at two locations, one in Stoughton, and the other in the R.M. of Tecumseh, will know their trial dates next week.
James Thomas, Randy Payton, and Dustin Rowland had their lawyers appear by telephone Tuesday afternoon in Weyburn Provincial Court. During the call, it was determined the trial dates will be set October 3rd. The Crown is expecting a lengthy trial and is electing for provincial court for all the charges.
Thomas, Payton, and Rowland were arrested in February of this year after the Saskatchewan Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit served the warrants. The warrants came after a month-long investigation.
Rowlands faces nine charges, including possession of a prohibited firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl). James Thomas, who is from Edmonton, faces nine charges as well, while Randy Payton faces a total of 27 firearms and drug-related charges.
