It was a magical evening in Arcola as the 11th Annual Creative Table for Cancer was held.

"It was fabulous," shared Organizer, Darlene Olson. "Every year I always say this is the best one ever."

"We were sold out and everything was perfect. The meal was good, the entertainment was good, the speeches were good, everything was great."

Tables are booked with two hosts. They decorate the tables from the silverware, tablecloths, centerpieces along with dessert. Then, they sell tickets to the tables.

"There are 40 tables of eight people. It is just amazing, this was our 11th year this year and there are always new ideas."

She added that nobody sits at the tables right away. People spend the first part of the evening admiring the tables and the decorations.

However, it isn't just the tables that raise money, they also have a substantial silent auction.

"This year we had probably our largest silent auction ever. Our silent auction is the best silent auction I've ever seen anywhere, not just the southeast."

A well, there were two speakers at the event, Natalie from Carlyle who spoke about her two battles with cancer as well as a representative from Dream Homes who spoke on shoeboxes for women. Shoeboxes can be filled with essentials for women in shelters to receive for Christmas.

Saskatchewan country singer, Justin Labrash entertained the crowd with a few musical numbers.

Over the last 10 years, Creative Table has raised around $275,000 and although the number are still being crunched, she believes that they raised in the ballpark of $30,000. Funds went to Look Good, Feel Better, an organization to help women dealing with cancer.

"We talk about skin care, we talk about wigs, we talk about nail care, we talk about bras, that kind of thing. And then this year I partnered up with the Arcola Daycare. So a percentage of the money raised will go to the Arcola Daycare."

She added that she hopes to see more men involved in the table planning and at the event for next year.
