Harvest operations are underway for some producers in the south. Crops are rapidly drying down and many pulse crops are being desicated. Most crops remain in fair to excellent condition however, many of the crops seeded later in the season are looking for rain to help heads and pods fill.reported yeilds, so far, range from avereage to well-below average, depending on feild and moisture conditions. Many southern and central areas have not received significant moisture for well over a month, and any future rainfall may be of limited benifit since most southern crops are quickly ripening.

Topsoil moisutre continues to be a concern for many. Provincially, moisture conditions are rated at 39% adequate, 43% short and 18% very short. The majority of the crop damage that was reported last week can be attributed to lack of moisture, strong winds and high temperatures. There have been some reports of grasshoppers in the south. Haying is wrapping up for some livestock producers and many are reporting significantly lower yields than normal. Pasture conditions are currently rated as 2% excellent, 25% good, 37% fair 26% poor and 10% very poor.
