Southeast College has had a good start to their week. Saskatchewan Oil & Gas Show and Enbridge have both given the college $5,000 each.

"We are so excited to have two new donations from local, South East Saskatchewan businesses," explained Sheena Onrait, Manager of Marketing and Communications, Southeast College. "Those contributions will be matched by the Ministry of Advanced Education Saskatchewan in an Innovation Opportunity Scholarship program. All those donations combined create $20,000 in scholarships and bursaries to be awarded to south-east college students over the next two years."

Onrait adds this is part of the colleges feeding the future program, which is designed to support full-time post-secondary students in pursuit of future industry related careers.

The donations will go towards helping students in 3rd and 4th class Power Engineering, Electrician, Heavy Equipment Truck and Transport Technician, Industrial Mechanic and Welding.

Every year our programs go through a matrix of sorts and we really consider what is the labour market need in South East Saskatchewan and we try to match our program offerings with that. We are training students close to home and hopefully, they are also securing positions close to home."
