A number of construction sites are in full swing in the Energy City and drivers are once again asked to make sure they slow down.

"With nice weather," explained Deputy Police Chief, Murray Cowan, "comes the busy season of construction and there's a lot of that going on around the city. There are certain locations in the city where it's more prevalent."

"People need to remember to slow down. Those types of issues where people are driving through construction zones is taken very seriously by the Police Service. We do not give discretion in those areas."

"It is extremely dangerous to be driving in excess of those speed limits."

Construction workers including city crews will often report any vehicles that drive where they should not, or drive too fast to the police.

"People need to be mindful of that. These people who are working in these areas keep an eye out for that as well as ourselves. So if you go through those zones, chances are somebody's going to get your licence plate number and they'll be reporting it to us."
