After a few days of quiet, the Estevan Fire and Rescue Department were back at it with a trio of recent calls.

"It's been fairly active in the last couple days," stated Fire Chief, Dale Feser. On Wednesday, around 12:30 pm, they were called out to a car accident at the intersection of Alexandra Avenue and Eva Street.

"Crews responded and found that there were no injuries and no leaks. Drivers exchanged information and went to the police station to report the incident."

"Later on in the evening, around the 7:00 pm mark, we were toned out to a power pole/tree fire that was in the back alley across from St. Mary's School."

Crews arrived on the scene and started with traffic control. Once SaskPower arrived and turned off the power, the fire went out.

"A lot of this was due to the heavy frosting that we're currently seeing on trees and whatnot. It's a very beautiful sight but it adds a lot of additional weight and it drags the tree branches down into power lines."

Feser advises the public that if you see a downed power line or a branch on a power line, stay away from it and call 911 immediately.

As well, on Thursday morning, around 7:00 am, the fire department responded to a call about a rollover.

"We were called out to a single vehicle collision that was north of Estevan out on the airport road."

One male was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
