Estevan Fire and Rescue was all over the place during Thursday's storm, attending no less than 6 different calls for emergency services.

It all started with putting out warnings and public education on the coming system. As the heavy clouds began to move into the area, some members had been watching over the valley, but returned to the station for safety.

"However, shortly after that we ended up getting toned out to a motor vehicle collision on 4th Street and Souris Avenue South. Crews arrived on scene and found a two vehicle collision with injuries, but no entrapment. At that time, EMS had already been on scene, and Estevan Police Services was already providing traffic control," shared Fire Chief Dale Feser.

While still on the scene of the accident, they received verbal reports of a tornado possibly touching down just east of the city in the industrial area.

"We did arrive out to Frontier Peterbrilt and that area, and there was no debris field or any urgent matters currently at that time, other than extremely low visibility conditions due to the fog created by the substantial that was on the highway. Everybody was driving extremely slow."

Immediately after, they got word that someone was trapped in an elevator thanks to the power outage. Five minutes later, they were called to respond to the exact same scenario in another location.

Several commercial fire alarms followed late into the night, though nothing serious occurred.

However, they were right back on action on Friday morning, attending a fire alarm at a daycare in the southern portion of town.

"There was no visible smoke or flames from the exterior or interior of the building, there was just kind of a light hazing, if you will. It turned out to be a cooking related issue," Feser said, commending the daycare center for their quick actions in ensuring the safety of all children inside, getting them evacuated and accounted for.
