A car accident just as everyone was getting to work resulted in attendance by local emergency crews on Thursday morning.

"Shortly before 8:00 AM we were toned out to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection 13th Avenue and 6th Street with the report of no injuries," shared Fire Chief Dale Feser.

"However, there was a smell of smoke as a result of the accident. Crews arrived on scene and we did an assessment. It was a very minor collision that had occurred with the curb of the sidewalk. There was no smoke, what the person in the vehicle was smelling was the powder residue from the airbags after they had deployed."

The vehicle was then towed away from the scene, as the deployment of airbags automatically renders it undrivable.

Luckily for the Fire Department, the incident occurred after the holidays, which Feser says were fairly uneventful.

"We had a few calls that we attended to. We had a few commercial fire alarms, as well as a single vehicle rollover on the 23rd. That was on Third Avenue south, and was another very minor accident. We also had one residential fire alarm, but other than that, it was fairly uneventful. We're very happy that everybody had a safe and happy Merry Christmas."
