Envision Counselling and Support Centre is just one of the groups who receive support from Estevan's United Way. They use the money provided by the United Way to fund a position for an intake counselor.

"That is a position that is funded between the United Way Estevan and the United Way Weyburn," shared Christa Daku, Executive Director. "That position goes between Weyburn and Estevan to screen all of our counseling referral phone calls."

"A couple years back we changed our funding proposal to reflect the need of clients we were seeing because all of our counselors are at capacity."

She added that without the support of the United Way, they would not be able to provide that position.

"That is strictly funded by the United Ways and we are extremely fortunate and grateful to be able to have that additional counseling position because it takes a little bit of the pressure off our counseling staff within the agency."

She added that they are looking forward to the Telethon.

The Telethon is a perfect opportunity for the City of Estevan and surrounding area to come out and provide support to the member agencies. As we've grown as an agency, we've asked the United Way to support our urgent needs within our agency and they've always stepped up with support and I don't think that would be possible if we didn't have the great support from our communities."

"We have volunteers doing the phones and I will be doing an interview and some of the staff have children that will be performing."

This year's Telethon aims to raise $335,000 for their member agencies.
