The Estevan Police Service was out in full force last night on the lookout for impaired drivers.

"We said that we'd be increasing the number of check-stops that we would be conducting this year," Police Chief Paul Ladouceur. "This goes in part with the community engagement meeting we had a few months back in relation to impaired driving and the seriousness of impaired driving in this city and throughout the province."

"We are continuing to do those spot checks and last night was a prime example and you'll see lots of those moving forward."

He added that check-stops will be conducted throughout the day, not just the evening and night.

"As we saw just last week, we had two individuals at four in the afternoon on Kensington, one stopped and charged with impaired driving, the other stopped and blew a Warn."

"It's unfortunate, at 4 pm on a Tuesday afternoon we have people driving impaired. It's just not acceptable."

Ladoceur was pleased to note that no impaired drivers were found last night.
