The Estevan Police Service take driving offences very seriously and are hoping to reduce the number of incidences in the city.

"Driving offences involving stunting are common in Estevan," explained Deputy Chief, Murray Cowan, "and it is something that we certainly enforce."

"It's something that we receive a lot of complaints about."

He explains that stunting can vary from a number of different things.

"The most common thing is somebody squealing their tires or driving erratically."

"Passengers in a vehicle can also be charged with stunting if they are doing something that distracts other users of the roadway."

Last week, there was a report of a driver stunting. When the police located the vehicle, the driver was charged with several infractions.

"It is certainly something that we look at and we do lay several charges under that section of the Traffic safety Act."

He also mentioned that a vehicle's loud exhaust can also result in a ticket.

"We ask the people to be vigilant when you're buying aftermarket exhaust systems. They need to be aware because if it's something that is too loud or isn't legal, then you could be responsible for the costs involved for having to have that item removed. And that's in addition to possibly receiving a ticket or worse yet,, having your vehicle seized if you continue to operate that vehicle after you've been charged with that offence."
