The Estevan City Police have been stepping up the enforcement of parking bylaws throughout the city, following some recent complaints at the Leisure Centre.

Sgt. Craig Bird, "We did get a complaint from the Leisure Centre, people go there for hockey games and what not and are parking where they are not supposed to be. We are asking the public that if you are attending the leisure center for an event, use the proper parking, or employee parking for example or fire lanes around the building. You know for safety reason."

Sgt. Bird shares how the fines can be quite large if you are found in the wrong spot, "It will probably save you money as well, as we have had several complaints about the parking, unfortunately, that ends up on us enforcing parking bylaws and handing out tickets. Which no one likes at the end of the day, and generally that will cost $80 and if they are parked in a fire lane it could be even more."

"The big issue is parking in a fire lane, if we can't get an ambulance or fire truck in there in case of an emergency, it could be a big deal if something happened to block off the emergency routes."

Be aware of the parking spaces in and around the city.
