Members of the Estevan Police Services responded to a report of someone driving and damaging City property on April 12th.

"One male has been charged with stunting under the TSA (Traffic Safety Act)," explained Sgt. Evan Handley, "and he'll be in court in June after people saw him doing doughnuts down at the ball diamonds."

He adds that a number of charges can result of this type of behaviour.

"You can be charged with mischief so you would have to appear in court or you could be charged with other offences as well."

This driver could have received a criminal mischief charge but officers chose the lesser charge after he repaired the damage done to City property.

"They went with a summary offence ticket rather than charging him with more serious offences. He'll still be fined and if found guilty, he'll face a fine of $150 and points on his driver's licence but it's a little less severe."

EPS also dealt with a report of a fight at a licenced establishment Thursday night.

"One male has been charged with assault. He punched somebody who worked at a bar here in town. We take that very serious, they're there to do a job and they don't deserve to be harassed or assaulted."

The victim received minor injuries. A 28-year-old Manitoba man was released Friday morning and will return to Estevan Provincial court on June 18th.

Handley also added that now that the weather looks like it may warm up, there will be more children outdoors playing and drivers should be on the lookout.

"Please slow down in school zones. Use caution as the kids are going to be out and they might not be paying attention when they're walking home from school or on the way to the park to play."
