The first day of legalized recreational use has come and gone and the Estevan Police Service is pleased to note there were no major incidents.

"It's always going to be a learning curve," explained Sgt Craig Bird. "The rules are new and we're learning them ourselves."

He added that they are focusing more on education and part of that includes visiting the schools.

"We're doing a lot fo proactive education with the community right now."

National Teen Driver Safety Week begins on Monday, October 22.

Bird also noted one hit and run investigation that is still ongoing.

"It was a courier truck that was damaged. And it looks like whoever had hit it obviously knew they had hit another vehicle because there was significant damage to the parked truck where it actually made it not drivable."

The EPS is asking for the public's help in this matter. The accident took place in the Walmart parking lot, yesterday around midday. If you have any information, call the Estevan Police Service or Crimestoppers.
