Estevan Police Service is investigating an assault that took place in Estevan recently.

"At approximately 11 pm on July 13th," explained Cst Danielle Stephany with the EPS, "members were patrolling an area and came upon a male suffering some severe injuries."

After an investigation, it was determined that an assault has occurred at the intersection of Souris Avenue and 7th Street.

"EMS was dispatched an later transported the victim to the hospital for further treatment. He was admitted for observation as he suffered injuries to his head and face."

"Police Service dog, Max was also called out with Cst Chabot as we had recovered evidence from the area and the suspects had fled the scene."

EPS have identified a suspect.

"The victim and the suspect are known to each other so there is not believed to be any risk to the public."

She added that they are hoping the suspect will turn himself over to the EPS on his own to deal with the incident.

"There was also a female present during the assault and has bee identified and we are hoping that she will also come forward on her own as well."

The EPS is asking the public if they have any information or any surveillance video to contact the EPS.
