It's a special night for many in the Energy City, as they take a moment to look back on their accomplishments, and gaze forward with anticipation to the future.

That said, there is bound to be a lot of celebration, and the Estevan Police Service wants you to enjoy it responsibly.

"Our members will be out tonight conducting high visibility check stops, looking for impaired drivers, throughout the City of Estevan. They'll be out very early, working into the wee hours of the night," said Police Chief Paul Ladouceur.

"We want to let the public know, they won't be able to say that they weren't forewarned. We're encouraging people that, if they're going out tonight, to plan a safe way home. If not, you will be spending it with us. We'd much rather not have a sleep-over at our cells tonight, so be responsible."

He added that you may be inconvenienced for a short time, but people should keep in mind that they are doing it for everyone's safety.

"We target our check stops with events that go on throughout the city, where there may be an increase in impaired driving. The last thing that we want to see is someone closing off their graduation by being injured in a serious car accident. Obviously, that's one of the reasons we're out tonight. We want the students to certainly enjoy the evening, but be responsible and if they are consuming alcohol by any means ensure that there is a safe way home."

"We will be out, so there's no excuses to drink and drive. If you are responsible enough to drive a car, you are responsible enough to drive it safely and make sure you are not driving when you are drunk," Ladouceur concluded.
