The Estevan Art Gallery and Museum is getting ready to launch a new exhibit called Heroines.
"It's a relaunch of a previous exhibit we had done in 1998 called Estevan Women: The Dynamics," explained Curator of Collections, Sarah Durham. "We thought it would be a nice tie in and part of our legacy project with Canada: 150 to once again celebrate women in the community."
"We had an open call to the public to nominate women you felt were deserving of recognition for a number of reasons."
A jury panel made up of various members in the community then had the difficult duty of narrowing down that list to 18 women who will be honoured in this exhibit. The women will have their photograph taken and then be interviewed as part of the exhibit.
"We're hoping to have it circulate throughput the community the following the year before it becomes part of our permanent collection."
The exhibit opens Friday, July 28 at 7 pm at the Estevan Art Gallery and Museum and will run until August 26.
