The Stars for Saskatchewan Concert series wrapped up on March 14th with their final show of the year featuring Heather Rankin. Wilma Mantei president of the Estevan Arts Council tells us a little bit more about the concert series.

"Well it has been going for near 50 years, we are partnered with OSAC, which is the Organized Saskatchewan arts council, this organization helps us choose concerts, they give us the opportunity to go to showcases and listen to different groups then we go from there looking for what we want to have. We have been a concert series that has really wanted to bring classical into our community, that's mostly what it started with but we have changed over the years so now we're about half and half so we try to have a variety of music."

The series ran 6 concerts this year starting off with a tribute to Buddy Holly and even though they just finished up their year they already have big plans for the 2019-20 season.

"We have it all ready to go in fact, we presented it to our audience last night and we had a good responce. so what we have coming this year is a tribute to the Jersey Boys that's in September. October we have Jeffery Straker, he's getting really well known, an amazing musician with piano and singing.  Early November we have two young guitarists, beautiful players, they're so young and so excited about a career in music but we just had to have them come because they were so appealing when we heard them. At the end of November, we have a piano player, a local talent from Stoughton area, she plays the piano and she will be playing with a girl from Regina so i thought it would be good to bring in some local talent as well."

It turns out that this year the series is throwing in a bonus concert.

"This coming year we are throwing in a bonus concert, this one is a Magician he's actually called a Wonderist, he will be performing in February."
