Members from Westmoreland Coal were at the Telethon and they presented a cheque for $62,913.27

They explained that the money was raised through employee donations. Each employee had the opportunity to set aside money directly from their paycheque and at the end of the year, their head office in Denver matched those donations.

With Westmoreland's donation, it brought the total up to $213,293.

Just earlier, Torc Oil and Gas brought their contribution of $15,000 down to the Legion.

"We're always excited," explained Travis Frank from the Untied Way. "Torc has always been a fantastic donor."

He shared that their contribution of $15,000 is higher than their usual donations that they make each year.

"It's no surprise that oil is not where it once was so to see a company like Torc Oil not only not stop giving us money but has increased the amount of money they are giving us just shows that they care about the community no matter what is going on."

Tundra Energy also donated $41,000 yesterday through employee donations and fundraisers such as Cook Who Cook.

"We appreciate these donations. We need a lot of these businesses to chip in and seeing these one that come back year after year is the best thing."
