The 25th Annual Estevan Business Showcase is coming up in a few days and there are a few changes moving forward - the Estevan Chamber of Commerce will no longer be hosting the event.

"We're still doing the administration this year," explained Jackie Wall, Executive Director of Estevan Chamber of Commerce, "but after this year, the Chamber won't be involved anymore."

The Estevan Rotary Club and Estevan Lions Club will take over responsibilities moving forward.

"We've been working with them on Showcase for a lot of years and they will be taking over the event and absorbing the Chamber's role."

She added the decision to step back from Showcase came after speaking with their members.

"It also resulted in a decrease in hours the Chamber had in 2018. We had our number of hours available drop by 8 hours a week so we had to take a look at everything we were involved in. We sent out a couple surveys to our members and we got some feedback from them. We just took a look at which events were really serving our members the way they wanted us to be able to meet their needs. Showcase came up as one that was questionable so we had to make the decision to step back, take a look at that event and we decided that we would be moving away from that event."

Being the 25th year, Wall shared it was a tough decision.

"It's always bittersweet when you have to step back from something but when you know that there are two other organizations that have been involved for years, you know it's in good hands."

"We are very confident that the Lions and the Rotary are going to be able to handle this and move forward. We've been taking very, very good notes and making sure we let them know exactly everything that we've been doing. We've got a schedule made up for the entire year because while Showcase is in September, it is something that is worked on for the whole year."

Pre-registration for next year's show begins at this year's showcase and runs until January 31, 2019.

Also this year, there will be no charge for admission. Visitors are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Estevan Food Bank.

The Estevan Business Showcase runs Friday Septemeber 28 4-9 and again on Saturday 10-8 at the Power Dodge Curling Rink.
