The Estevan Chamber of Commerce held their Annual General Meeting on Wednesday. They looked at the year behind us, and gazed ahead into 2017.

"It was outstanding. The support from the membership just keeps increasing, and that is really encouraging," expressed Executive Director Jackie Wall.

"We have a lot of support from the businesses and the communities as a whole, so it's great."

The keynote speaker for the event was RBC Regional President Kim Ulmer, who spoke on the issue of diversity in the business world.

"I think it's something that we need to be more cognizant of and celebrate," Wall added.

Another important highlight of the occasion was the passing of the mantle of president from Josh LeBlanc to John Williams.

"I think Josh has been a great advocate for the business community and Estevan in general," noted Williams, who is looking forward to the opportunity.

"It will be some big shoes to fill."

"John brings the business acumen and knowledge, and he's been through all the issues within his position, so he understands the role," added LeBlanc.

The Chamber is excited for the year ahead. Some of the upcoming events include the Carbon Capture Summit, to be held in May, and the EBEX awards in October.
