Estevan Family and Friends Inc. is one of the many groups that will be benefiting from United Ways Telethon this year.

Their mandate is to provide opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities throughout the community, helping those who can not help themselves.

"For anyone who has lived on a tight budget before, knows how constraining that can be. If we want to go out to something with friends we can, we have our own vehicles and a means to plan events. So what Family and Friends does is orchestrates those events", explained Roberta Derosier. " We put on dances, we recently had a big barbeque where we put on games, and we sometimes invite people from other communities so they can get to know other people who are similar to them.

The people that Family and Friends provides help to do not have the means or abilities that other people have. " If we want to go to the show, we just call up our friends and say ya I'll see you there. They honestly would not have those opportunities if United Way wasn't supporting us to provide those opportunities for them".

Estevan Family and Friends Inc. will be helping out at the Telethon through volunteering and doing an interview.

This years goal is $335 000. The Telethon runs from October 26th at 8 a.m. to October 27th at 5 p.m.
