One of the Member Agencies that the United Way supports is the Estevan Family Resource Centre.

"The Estevan Family Resource Centre is a prevention model of service delivery," explained Colleen Mcmillan, coordinator. "We offer a comprehensive range of programs aimed at enhancing child and family well-being by reducing the family isolation and supporting healthy child development and providing information to support that kind of positive parenting."

"We provide services in four core areas: parenting education, early learning, family wellness and support, and information and referrals. Along with that we also have a drop in and play centre that is accessible to all families throughout the week.'

She added that the United funds their crisis counsellor position who works on site and is available during the week and off hours in case of any emergencies.

"We also offer emergency supplies for families who have infants so emergency supplies for infants are formula and diapers, that type of thing."

"The Untied Way is one of our major funders. They are very supportive of us, the centre and the programs and honestly without them, we probably would not be operating."

"The funds that we receive from them go towards all of these programs and they are free and accessible to all families with in the southeast area."

She adds that the Centre is looking forward to the United Way Telethon and plan to help by answering phones and bringing baked goods.
