The Estevan Family Resource Centre recently received a $1,000 donation form the Estevan Lions Club.

"They've been a really great supporter of the Family Centre," shared Colleen Macmillan, Coordinator at the Family Centre. "We were really excited to receive the donation that they gave us."

"Part of it is going to go our emergency supplies. We have emergency supplies of infant formula and diapers for families in need. So a portion of the funds will go to that program. And then the other half of it will go to our community kitchen. We have a lot of organizations that want to use our kitchen on a regular basis but we're not an approved kitchen with the health department. We need a few upgrades to do with the kitchen so it can be an approved kitchen and that will be enough funds to get us to that point."

As well, the Family Centre is also one of the member agencies with the United Way.

The United Way has been incredibly supportive of the Family Centre. They fund our crisis counselor position that we have at the centre which is very well utilized. Without the United Way, we couldn't have that position at all. We don't know what we'd do without them."

She mentioned that they are all looking forward to the Telethon in October.

"We take part in that, we answer phones in the middle of the night. We try and find families that will bring their talents and we bring lots of baking over there to help support in anyway we can."

She adds that they are currently busy preparing and lining up their fall guide which will be out by the end of the week.
