A Citizenship ceremony was held for the first time in Estevan on Wednesday.

"I live in Regina and I normally do ceremonies in Regina but I did ask the Citizenship office if we could have ceremonies outside of Regina, I did mention Estevan as a good location," shared Dr. Michael Jackson a Former Chief of Protocol Saskatchewan who now presides at Citizenship Ceremonies as a Volunteer.

"I'm very happy with this event it was a diverse group of 22 people from 7 different countries. They were a very enthusiastic group, very friendly and it was a very warm occasion and it was good to have it here in Estevan which is a very vibrant City in South-East Saskatchewan, and it was good to have citizens take their oaths right here in the City. I think it's very good to have Citizenship Ceremonies around the province for other people to come and witness what is happening. Often the new Citizens are very committed to Canada and know a lot about our Country because of the exam they have taken and the books they have read and it is a lesson for all of us as Canadians."

It is important to have a Citizenship Ceremony in Estevan.

"I feel great, I feel joyed it is a real joyous and special occasion it is really exciting. It's really nice to see so many people from all over the world. This is the first time the Ceremony has been held ever in Estevan so it is a great occasion and I feel great, expressed Salman a new Canadian Citizen, originally from Pakistan.
