The St. Joseph's Hospital is looking a lot better these days thanks to a $65,000 renovation to the Maternity/Surgery Unit provided by the Estevan Kinettes.

"It's been a long time coming," shared Susan Colbow, with the Estevan Kinettes. "We had contacted Becky about other things, small donations. Then they started this hospital revitalization program and so we looked at that."

"If we're going to do anything, let's do it in the maternity ward and try and get those spruced up because a lot of us have been in these rooms before."

She added that funds raised through their craft-show will go towards funding the project.

The Estevan Kinettes along with Dr. Sawwan, Becky Cassidy, and Greg Hoffart open the newly renovated Maternity/Surgery Unit

"Our craft-show has been running for several years and we thought, why don't we designate the money from the craft-show directly to the hospital? So we'll be doing that for the next few years to pay off our commitment."

"We usually make enough money at the craft-show every year that that would be our commitment. Over ten years, $6,500 a year and we usually make that much money at our craft-show so all long as our craft-show continues to go well, that will be our big fundraiser every year for the hospital."

"Hopefully everybody's going to like it. Actually, my dad was just in here and he really liked the rooms."

The new ward will be available to more than new mothers and their babies.

"It is a surgery ward as well so they have surgery patients here besides maternity patients. It's just one area that we as women wanted to get involved with."
