As the time draws near for the legalization of cannabis, the Government of Saskatchewan is releasing more rules and regulations, including the legal age to use it which will be 19.

"Pretty much right across Canada," explained Lori Carr, MLA for Estevan, "the age they picked was in line with legal drinking age and that's also what Saskatchewan decided to go with."

As well, they announced that there will be a zero tolerance for driving while impaired by cannabis.

"Whatever mechanism they're going to have to test for this, basically, we are not going to allow any smoking marijuana and driving. It is zero tolerance."

The roadside test will likely be some type of saliva testing.

Carr added that another regulation is that cannabis will not be allowed near schools.

"Obviously we're not going to allow it near schools or daycares and that also goes along with whatever store goes up. They can't be within a certain vicinity of those types of facilities either which I think is very important."

The SLGA is also in the process of deciding who will receive the licences.

"Come April, they're going to have an online application process that you are going to have to go online and get the application form. Any further information you want, if you want to do that, you can do to www.rfp.inquiries@slga.gov.sk.ca."

"Once you go through the process of doing the application and if they say, "Yes, you're fit, you can have a store," then what they do is they take those names, and they throw all of those in a hat and it's literally a lottery system and they pull a name out of a hat."
