More reaction is coming following the announcement of the USMCA deal between the US, Mexico and Canada which replaces NAFTA.

"Obviously we're very pleased the deal has been reached," shared Estevan MLA, and Minister of Highways and Infrastructure, Lori Carr. "The United States is our province's biggest trading partner and no deal would have been detrimental to our economy."

She believes that the deal will be positive for the southeast.

"A lot of the products we produce whether that be wheat that our farmers just harvested or oil that we take out of the ground, these products we export directly to the United States. So if we didn't have access to the market, it would hurt our local producers."

"One thing that I think is important that is not in this deal is that they haven't dropped the 25% tariffs on steel and aluminium. So we look forward to see how the federal government actually deals with those negotiations and hopefully they can get that taken out of there sooner than later."
