A few dozen people from all walks of life were in attendance this afternoon at Estevan City Hall to celebrate the launch of Estevan's second annual Pride Week. The rainbow flag was raised by city crews beforehand and a short program dedicated this week to diversity, acceptance, and of course, pride.

Councillor, Shelley Veroba, delivered an address on behalf of the city.

The councilwoman recognized that, although Pride Week is a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, many in attendance were not a part of that demographic and came to show their support. "That's what I think is important," said Veroba. "That we all support each other. It shouldn't matter who you love."

Also in attendance were high school representatives from the Estevan Comprehensive School's Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA). Megan Zemlack, one of the GSA captains, was present and explained that the GSA is a welcoming and inclusive school club that works to spread education and awareness at the school and in the community. The GSA played a significant role in helping organize this week's Pride Events.
