Neighbors helping neighbors. A simple way to describe what people in Estevan are seeing around the Energy City on Wednesday.

The United Way Estevan is hosting their 10th edition of the 'Day of Caring', where volunteers and board members spread out to various types of projects and get some work done.

Projects range from tasks like cleaning ovens, washing windows, planting flowers, raking lawns, painting fences, and any other typical 'Spring Cleanup' type of job that others in the community are unable to complete themselves due to physical restrictions or simply a lack of time.

In 2018, hundreds of volunteers are tending to 43 separate projects at homes, businesses, care homes and organizations throughout the day. A BBQ Lunch to keep everyone fed and fueled is also being held at the Estevan Alliance Church on King Street.

All projects will be completed and tools cleaned up by the evening hours.

The United Way Estevan supports 15 member agencies in Estevan and southeast Saskatchewan, with the 'Day of Caring' featured as one of their community impact programs in addition to the Hillcrest Breakfast Program and student scholarships.
